On the Black Volta, tragedy struck when a boat in passage had an accident, killing all 18 people on board.
The fatalities, who have not yet been named, were traveling through Dokochina, a mining region in the Savanna Region’s Bole district.
Upon reaching the Black Volta’s middle, the boat carrying about 20 passengers reportedly overturned when it struck a fisherman’s net.
Chief Muniru, the local chief, who confirmed the news to Adom News said that two victims were successfully saved and that two of the victims drowned.
The victims have been interred in line with customary customs along the lake’s shore.
Fishermen have halted all fishing operations while rituals are carried out to control the tides.
Although no information about the deceased’s identify or relatives has surfaced, there are speculations that they were Togolese.
