Ex-Black Stars defender, Shilla Illiasu has stated that, Black Stars players don’t necessarily focus on money at the World Cup.
Issues of qualification bonuses took center stage at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil where delays in payment helped kick Ghana out of the group stage.
It was the Black Stars third appearance at the global football tournament but it ended up as a poor finish.
That notwithstanding, Shilla Illiasu has jumped to the defence of the Black Stars players.
Shilla Illiasu spoke to Adamu Muftawu of Radio Gold Talk Sport.
“Although everybody is looking for money but I will say it is not about that.
“Most of the players some of them are playing outside, the money they are taking it’s not about the winning bonus in the national team.
“So they only target to go and make their name and get more contract outside.” Shilla Illiasu told Radio Gold Talk Sport.
