“Former Vice President Saved Ghana From World Cup Embarrassment” – Afriyie-Ankrah

Former Youth and Sport Minister, Honourable Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, has revealed that it took the Late Vice President, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, to settle qualification bonus on training grounds before players agreed to play in Brazil 2014 World Cup.

Hon. Afriyie-Ankrah, in an exclusive interview on Gold Talk Sports, disclosed that players after several agitations towards the nation’s cabinet and sport ministry saw them agree with the late Vice President before the group’s opening game of the 2014 mundial.

“We even sent a delegation made up of Hon. Adu Asare and Dr. Mustapha, to go and meet them in Montenegro and try and convince them, it didn’t work.

“It had to take His Late Execellency Amissah-Arthur, on the field of training in Brazil to change the cabinet decision from $75,000 to $100,000 and announce it to them before they play the first match”.

Ghana poorly exited the competition after accumulating two points from three games.
