Captain Smart is furious that all Presidents of the Fourth Republic have abandoned the Volta Region over the years, and he specifically asks President Akufo-Addo why he is “joking with the people of the Volta Region.”
His vitriol stems from the Keta Port Project, which is home to snakes after the Finance Minister issued a $500 million bond for the project.
Meanwhile, the government claims to have spent GH4.1 million on the project, despite the fact that the entire structure is a one-story C-shaped container abandoned in the jungle to house reptiles.
The Maakye crew visited the site during the Anlo Hogbetsotso Festival and discovered that the project had not been upgraded since the containers were painted a few months earlier.
Prior to its formation, the project had a Managing Director who purportedly received a monthly remuneration of GH¢87,000.00.
In addition, 30 other persons have been hired to work under the MD, making a total of 31 workers while the project is not in operation.
The individuals have been receiving salaries since October 2019, prompting Captain Smart to call the development an insult to Anlo state’s Awmefia, Togbe Sri III.
“This is a slap in the face to Togbe Sri III and the entire Volta region.” How can you be this cruel, this heartless? We can import snakes for you if you want to raise them,” he raged.
