Head coach of Hearts of Oak, Slavko Matic has said that it will depend on the head coach of the Black Stars to select the club’s duo for the World Cup.
The two players, Dennis Korsah and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh have been included in Otto Addo’s 55-man provisional squad for the global football tournament to be staged in Qatar in the next two weeks.
The squad will be pruned down to 26 for the main tournament and Matic who took over from the departed Samuel Boadu says the Black Stars head coach reserves the right to select which player he deems fit for the tournament.
“This is the decision of the head coach and I wish them a lot of happiness and good luck for all nation at the World Cup.” Slavko Matic told StarTimes.
The Black Stars are making their fourth FIFA World Cup appearance after their debut in Germany 2006 and subsequent appearances in South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014.
Ghana’s debut World Cup saw them qualify for the round of 16 before improving and qualifying for the quarter finals in the 2010 edition in South Africa.
They however exited the competition at the group stage in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in the South American city of Brazil.
The Black Stars are paired in group H alongside Uruguay, Portugal and South Korea.
