President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will join the President of the US, Joe Biden, and other Heads of State and governments to open the Forests and Climate Leadersâ Summit in Egypt on Monday.
The summit is part of the 27th session of the Conference of Parties (COP27) scheduled for Sharm El Sheikh from November 6 – 18, this year.
The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor, who made this known at a Pre-COP27 cocktail in Accra last Thursday evening, said the summit would provide a unique space for inter-governmental collaboration and coordinated actions with partners and stakeholders.
âGhana’s membership of FCLP was a testimony that the countryâs efforts at accelerating emission reduction has been recognised globally.
âThrough such efforts, Ghana is set to receive some $4.86m as payment for the countryâs contribution to reducing carbon in 2019,â he added.
Mr Jinapor said the money would be distributed according to a highly consultative and transparent benefit sharing plan.
