A Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Gyampo has asked President Akufo-Addo to stop transporting his chair in an air conditioned V8 to show that he is willing to sacrifice in this economic crisis.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, 1st November 2022, Prof Gyampo wrote;
“A simple test of the President’s willingness to sacrifice in this crisis, is not to announce a 30% cut in the salaries of appointees which is difficult to verify, but to stop transporting his chair in a fully fueled air conditioned V8, a gesture that all can see.”
The comments of the Outspoken Prof Gyampo comes in wake of economic crisis facing Ghana which caused President Akufo-Addo to address the nation on the economy. Some people usually criticize the President for devoting a full vehicle to carry the chair he sits on.
Reactions
“NPP supporters who don’t even understand EUROBOND will come n defend y the chair must be in the V8.” A user wrote.
“It’s intriguing, the 30% cut has been there long before but didn’t realize any results. Instead of him to announce a cut down in the ministries to its original number, that could safe us fortune, he is still day dreaming.” A user commented.
