Professor of political science at the Kwame Nkrumah University Of Science and Technology has analysed the president’s speech yesterday and have rated it as poor and lack any coherent plan to solve our economic crisis.
He said it is commendable that Akufo Addo gave some assurance that will ease panic and tension. He said it was indeed pleasant to hear the president say there would be no haircuts. He said this is a bold and audacious statement.
But according to him, beyond the above, everything else in the president’s speech showed clearly that he lacked any solution to our crisis.
He added that it appears that the president is not interested in the kind of austerity measures that would help because he and his appointees are still not ready to alter their opulent lifestyles.
The professor said Akufo Addo’s proposal to cut 30% salary of his appointees is a mere propaganda as there is no evidence that the appointees truly have their salaries cut by the said amount. He dared the president to show evidence of such claims.
