Akufo-Addo’s Refusal To Sack Ken Ofori-Atta Shows He’s Clueless In Politics – Jantuah

AUDIO: I totally disagree with you – NDC'S PV <a class=Jantuah boldly tells Mahama”/>

Former government appointee under John Dramani Mahama’s administration, PV Dadson Boateng Jantuah says he believes President Akufo-Addo does not appreciate the gravity of the mess that Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has created in Ghana’s economy.

He says it is unacceptable for the Finance Minister to still be at post after grinding the country’s economy into a ditch.

Mr Jantuah made these remarks on Kumasi-based Ultimate FM while contributing to discussions on demands made by Members of Parliament from the Majority Caucus for the removal of the Finance Minister, on Wednesday, October 26, 2022.

On Tuesday, 80 Majority Members of Parliament (MPs) from the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) side of the house demanded the removal of the Finance Minister and Dr Charles Adu Boahen, Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance.

Reacting to this Mr. Jantuah says the Finance minister is a failure and should have been relieved of his position long ago.

He added that the President’s delay in taking action is a clear testament of his cluelessness in politics.

“With the greatest of respect to His Excellency the President, our president doesn’t understand what Ken Ofori Atta is doing.

“I am surprised the President holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and he doesn’t understand what is going on, because if he really understands what it takes to run an economy he shouldn’t have entertained Ofori Atta up till this time.

“Here is a Finance Minister and what he knows is to borrow without recourse to repayment, is that how we run an economy”, he said.

He continued “In the maiden state of the nation address he said if they honour statutory payment and emolument plus amortization there is no fiscal space left, so what do you have to do, create the fiscal space first before you add expenditure, but from the get go they keep add expenditure without knowing where the money is going to come from?”

“And if you have a finance minister who will superintend over an activity like this, then he is not fir for purpose”, he added.
