Former Ghana President, John Agyekum Kuffour said he trusts the Black Stars to bring honour to the nation at this year’s FIFA World Cup in Asia.
Ghana, will be participating at the Mundial for the fourth time at this year’s event in Qater in November and December.
The Black Stars, first appeared at the tournament in Germany in 2006 with further appearances in 2010 in South Africa and Brazil in 2014.
And ahead of the Qatar event, former President Kuffour believes the Black Stars are in line to have a successful tournament in the Arab Emirates.
The former Ghana President was speaking when a delegation from the Ghana Football Association, (GFA), presented him a replica of the jersey that the Black Stars will wore at the upcoming Mundial.
He added: “I believe the boys can do it, they have exposure internationally and so stage fright should not be part of this tournament. What is left is for our side to play as a team.”
Ghana, has been paired with Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay in Group H of the competition with the Black Stars set to open their account with a game against the Portuguese on November 24.
The Black Stars will play further games against South Korea and Uruguay as they aim to get into the knock out phase of the campaign.
Ghana’s best performance at the Mundial was in 2010 when the Black Stars reached the quarter finals of the competition.
