Akufo-Addo Should Stop ‘Begging’ The Soldiers And Rather Fix The Country – NDC MP Boldly Speaks

President Akufo-Addo has for some weeks now been on a tour in some parts of the country. He has been seen commissioning projects and cutting sods for new projects. One of the interesting thing about the tours of the president has been some of the commentaries he has been making on certain issues affecting the country.

Law maker for North Tongu has sent a simple advice to President Akufo-Addo regarding the economic hardships of the country. He noted that President Akufo-Addo in one of his commentaries called on the military to uphold their duties as enshrined in the 1992 constitution. In a Facebook post today, Monday, October 24, 2022, Ablakwa said it was better for Akufo-Addo to rather fear the empty stomachs of Ghanaians rather than fear soldiers attempting to usurp power.

“President Akufo-Addo should not be begging soldiers while dismissing the legitimate demands of suffering civilians with utter contempt” Ablakwa said.

Ablakwa cited examples with the Arab Spring, demonstrations in Sudan and Sri Lanka and stated that the masses can rise up and demonstrate against the president for the current economic hardships. In bold words, the NDC MP mentioned that no one wants the security of the country to be undermined but then the state of the country is conducive for anything to happen. He called on President Akufo-Addo to do well and fulfil his promises.

It can be recalled that President Akufo-Addo in 2020 assured Ghanaians that he knows how to bring back the economy but not the lives of those who died. It’s been 2 years now and it is clear that those comments were just words when we consider the fact that the government insists that Covid-19 is a reason for Ghana’s economic crises.
