“I’m Not “Stupid” to Invest my Money Wrongly” – Hearts of Oak Chairman

Chairman of Hearts of Oak, Togbe Afede XIV, has jumped to the defence of two board members, Alhaji Moro Akambi and Vincent Sowah Odotei.

The duo came under the fans’ jack knife after the club’s CAF Confederation Cup exit.

The Phobians lost 3-0 away to AS Real Bamako with the reverse fixture producing a 1-0 win for the 2004 winners.

A 3-1 aggregate score line over the two legs kicked the 21 time Ghana champions out of the competition and many have blamed Odotand Akambi but Togbe Afede XIV thinks otherwise.

“Somebody is not a regular employee, somebody is not on salary.

“As monitored by Adamu Muftawu of Radio Gold Sports, he continued, “As a chief, one of the biggest jobs I have is that people work for the community selflessly and without the expectation of remuneration.

“Here I have somebody doing business activity, Accra Hearts of Oak without remuneration, spending all his time, he has his own business to run.

“Sometimes I’m amazed about the level of commitment of these people.

“And trust me, the successes of 2021/22 [league season] on the pitch, what we are doing at Pobiman, Commercial Centre, Supporters Liaison Office and the new head office building will never have been possible without the dedication of these two gentlemen.

“That needs to be told with no uncertain terms.

“Why Will anybody think that [excuse me] I’m so stupid, that I will be investing those amount of money and use the wrong people, why will anybody think like that?

“If I cannot trust them, they won’t be part of what we are doing so intimately.

“If they are not hardworking, we will not have achieved what we have achieved.

“These two will sit down here [Algaji Akambi and Vincent Odotei] negotiating with players from morning till night.” Togbe Afede said at the club’s emergency press conference.
