Martin Boldly Sends Bold Message To Akufo-Addo After Captain Smart Is Arrested By NIB

News coming in has it that host of Onua TV’s Onua Maakye has been arrested. The information was revealed on News 360 by TV3. Onua TV just like TV3 are managed by Media General. Though information is scanty on the reasons leading to his arrest by the National Intelligence Bureau, many claim that it can be due to recent comments he made about President Akufo-Addo’s involvement in galamsey.

On Onua TV’s Onua Maakye today, Monday, October 17, 2022, Captain Smart recounted how government has spent about 416 million to fight galamsey and yet nothing has been achieved. He noted that this points to the fact that the President himself is actively involved in galamsey. Captain Smart boldly insisted that nothing could change his mind that the president is involved in illegal mining.

Later in the day, the Ministry of Information released a statement condemning the comments of Captain Smart. Well, some say his arrest is due to his comments. Martin Kpebu a private legal has waded into the arrest. Sharing his opinion on News 360, Martin boldly stated that he feels it was overboard for Captain Smart to be arrested.

Martin stated that as a leader President Akufo-Addo should know that criticisms are part of media work and so should be accommodating to certain comments. He charged the President to rather act to prove his critics wrong that he is innocent of what is said about him. Martin Kpebu is not new to such criticism of the president. He is one person who has been critical of the Akufo-Addo presidency.

On one scenario he referred to the president as the head of the criminal syndicate in the country. Upon some pressure he was made to retract and apologize for his words. It will be interesting to see the charges against Captain Smart. This is not his first arrest and if really the case is about galamsey then Captain will have to prove with evidence that the president is actively involved in the illegality.
