Fuel Prices In Ghana Go Up By 20 percent; Sammy Gyamfi Bares Teeth At Bawumia

Sammy Gyamfi 'drags' Dr. Bawumia, says he and his boss Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo have collapsed Ghana's economy

Fuel prices in Ghana have gone up over 20 percent with petrol and diesel now selling at GH₵13.1 and GH₵15.99 from Total Energies.

With a litre of diesel at GH₵15.99, a gallon will now be selling at around GH₵72.

Reacting to this, the National Communications Officer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi says the “talkative’ Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has gone dead silent.

In a tweet, he says, Ghanaians are reeling in excruciating hardship with rising cost of living.

“A gallon of diesel is selling at GHS72, while the dollar is selling at GHS12.5. Cost of living keeps soaring but the braggadocious talkative and chairman of the EMT @MBawumia who was once projected as the answer to all our economic woes has gone awol. Will things ever get better?” He tweeted.

Last week, the Institute for Energy Security (IES) projected prices going up at the pump.

“The sharp rise in gasoline [petrol] and gasoil [diesel] prices on the global market may drive the price of domestic gasoline and gasoil to rise higher, as against the rise in LPG [Liquefied Petroleum Gas] price.

“In IES’ estimation, consumers of gasoline and gasoil may pay between 7% and 12% more for a litre at the pump in the next two weeks, with gasoil per litre price hinging close to ¢15”, the IES said.
