Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Samuel Abu Jinapor has declared his support for Vice President Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to become the presidential candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the forthcoming elections in 2024.
According to him, there is no one better placed to take over from President AKufo-Addo when his tenure of office comes to an end.
“Considering many things, his competence and hard work, there is no other person to better lead the NPP into the 2024 Elections”, he said.
Mr Jinapor, who is also the Member of Parliament for Damongo made this remark at the Kpalbe in the Savannah Region during the Vice President’s working visit to Northern Ghana.
He assured the Vice President of his full support when the time comes for the NPP to elect a new flagbearer.
“When the time comes and His Excellency the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia decides to contest, I will support him fully and work hard together with party stakeholders in the Savannah Region for his hard work, competence”, he said.
Dr Bawumia is preparing to contest for the NPP Presidential primaries when the party opens nominations in the coming months.
He will however face stiff opposition from Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyeremanten, Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, and others.
