Are You Now The Minister Of Health? – Ghanaians Ask Bawumia After He Stated This NPP Achievement

Some Ghanaians have lambasted Bawumia for a comment he has made regarding the health of the country. Bawumia is currently on a tour of some parts of the Northern side of Ghana. The Vice President has revealed that for the past 5 years there has been no single recorded case of Cholera in the country. While speaking at the commissioning of the Town Water Project in Tuna in the Savannah Region, Bawumia stated that the NPP have invested over $700 million in providing portable water for Ghanaians.

Bawumia proudly stated that this feat has ensured that Ghana has a clean slate when it comes to Cholera prevention. The Vice President also revealed that currently 87% of Ghana has access to potable water and the government to doing more to ensure that much more areas get access to portable water to improve their living conditions.

It can be recalled that Ghana witnessed her worst Cholera outbreak under John Mahama when about 28,000 cases were recorded in the country leading to 243 deaths. Despite this comment, many Ghanaians are not happy about what Bawumia said. They have raised questions as to when Bawumia became a health minister or expect to be speaking about health related issues.

Many have questioned why Bawumia who was touted as the economic wiz kid has moved from that sector to Digitalization and now focusing on Health related issues. The Vice President has been hit on all sides by Ghanaian especially those of the opposition NDC for failing to transform the economic and the plight of the cedi as he promised.

Before the 2016 elections Bawumia was seen on many platforms promising how he will transform the economy. Six years gone and many say the Vice president has failed to live up to expectations and now shifting his focus to Health. Probably, Bawumia just made a harmless statement on Health but many have taken it serious and called on him to go and rather fix the economy as he promised.
