Accra Hearts of Oak set to appoint Serbian national Slavko Matic as new head coach

Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak are set to announce the appointment of Serbian tactician Slavko Matic as new coach of the club according to multiple reports.

News has emerged in the local media that the Phobians, will replace the departed Samuel Boadu with the Serbian helmsman who last coached Bulgarian second tier side Seotemvri Sofia.

The former Serbian defender landed in Ghana on Tuesday night, and he is expected to be announced as the new coach of Accra Hearts of Oak soon.

Slavko Matic, is a holder of the UEFA Pro Licence coaching badge, and he would be expected to guide the Phobians to success upon his appointment.

As a player, he played for OFK Beograd, Spartak Moscow, PFC Slavia Sofia and PFC CSKA Sofia all in Europe, before calling time on his career.

The 46-year old, started his coaching duties in 2010, and has managed among others Napredak Krusevac, Koper, OFK Beograd and FK Sloboda Uzice.

Coach Matic, is expected to be at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday to witness Hearts’ CAF Confederation Cup game with Real Bamako of Mali although it is not likely he will sit on the bench.

Hearts of Oak, trail the Malians 3-0 from the first leg encounter, and have a tough job on hand to eliminate Real Bamako from the competition.
