JM Has Bought Pressure For Him – Reactions As Akufo-Addo Leaves For France To Receive An Award

Earlier today it was revealed that President Akufo-Addo had left the shores of the country for France. This will be a 6-day working visit to the country which has great ties with Ghana. Tomorrow the President is expected to receive an award from university there. It will be an honorary doctorate degree conferred on him by the Sorbonne University.

However, Ghanaians are comparing this to the one John Mahama received earlier this month. During the week, former President John Mahama was one of the keynote speakers at the Liberty University. Liberty University, the world’s largest Christian University is hosting hundreds of chief executives, political figures and athletes at the Second CEO Summit.

The former President was awarded with a Global Award for Leadership. The award was to celebrate John Mahama for ‘governing wisely, advocating and achieving a consistent track record on economic development, women’s participation in education, and enhancing economic growth’. Though the two awards are different many feel the award of the former president has put pressure on President Akufo-Addo to also challenge him.

Many others say that despite the economic hardships in the country, the resident is still frolicking going after awards. Interestingly, some feel the president bought the award with the public purse. Congrats to President Akufo-Addo for bagging his third honorary doctorate degree. Check out some of the reactions.
