I Am Ready To Escort Erasmus Donkor To The Police Station To ‘Report’ Wontumi – Martin Kpebu

The President earlier this week held a meeting with representatives of the National House of Chiefs and MMDCEs. The meeting was held to create consensus between the two parties regarding bringing an end to galamsey. President Akufo-Addo since assuming office has failed to bring an end to the promise of stopping galamsey. Despite putting his presidency on the line, President Akufo-Addo has failed to get any positive results.

Many names have popped up as being involved in galamsey. One of such big wigs in the Ashanti regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party. Chairman Wontumi has been accused of mining illegally at some forest reserves. According to many anti-galamsey campaigners, the president has enough evidence to prosecute Wontumi. Chairman Wontumi himself has stated that he is mining in legally approved places.

On Newsfile today, Saturday, October 8, 2022, Martin Kpebu noted that the President is only deceiving Ghanaians with words. He explained that if the president wanted to act he would have acted. According to Martin, Akufo-Addo is dancing a kabuki dance and doing ‘kukuasa’ with galamsey just to avoid dealing with the kingpins in his party who are involved in galamsey.

In a bold statement, Martin Kpebu stated that he has had enough and was ready to go all out and get justice. Martin mentioned that he will accompany Erasmus Donkor to the Police to make a complaint against Wontumi. “If Erasmus is afraid to be the complainant, I will go with him after the show and be the complainant” Martin Kpebu said.

The president in his meeting with the MMDCEs mentioned that he wanted evidence so he could prosecute those involved. He mentioned that he doesn’t deal with mere rumors and will only act when he gets concrete evidence. Some say this is a sign of weakness and doesn’t demonstrate that the President wants to end galamsey. It is yet to be seen if Martin will walk his talk and report Wontumi for investigation.
