Senegalese-American singer, Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam popularly known as Akon failed to mention names of Ghanaian artistes that are doing great in Afrobeat music. He totally ignored Ghanaian musicians.
Akon was hosted on SiriusXM radio today. He was asked about African artistes or musicians that are taking Afrobeat to a greater height. The locked up hit maker immediately mentioned Burna Boy’s name and he revealed that, Burna Boy is killing Afrobeat and he is beast.
He also mentioned Wizkid’s name. He told the host that, Wizkid is a superstar. With the third artiste, he talked about Davido. He said that, Davido is the hardest working artiste because he was an underdog. And with his last artiste, he pointed Mr Eazi. He also said that, Mr Eazi is intelligent and he is more of a businessman to him than an artiste.
Akon pointed out 4 Nigerian musicians but he failed to mention even one Ghanaian musician. This is very disheartening. Ghana has artistes such as Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, King Promise, Kidi, Kuame Eugene, Black Sheriff and the likes but Akon ignored them all.
