A lecture at the University of Ghana Professor Ransford Gyampo has asserted that, Ghanaians don’t like the way the country is governed but the presidency must be respected by everyone.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Monday, 26th September 2022, he wrote;
“We do not like how the country is being governed but we cannot suddenly also throw our culture of courtesy, respect and civility to the dogs. The position of the PRESIDENCY MUST be respected by ALL, regardless of its occupant.”
Background
The comments of Prof Gyampo comes as a background to the booing of President Akufo-Addo last Saturday. The president of Ghana, was booed on stage during the 2022 Global Citizen Festival stage at Accra’s Black Star Square.After delivering his keynote speech, H.E. Nana Addo was jeered by the audience.
Following that, many Ghanaians have expressed their views on that. Some are of the view that the booing shows that Ghanaians are not happy with the economic hardship.
Others are of the few that, it’s disgrace to Ghana to jeer the whole President in that manner. Prof Gyampo believe that, it is against Ghana’s culture to do that to the president.
