All Politics Aside, It Is Time For Cape Coast To Get An Airport

Cape Coast is one of the best tourist sites in Ghana. Often times, foreigners have to travel by road to Cape Coast because there is no airport in the capital of Central Region.

Global superstars, Usher, Stormzy, and SZA arrived in Ghana for the Global Citizen Festival on Friday, 23rd September 2022.

There have been a host of different foreigners visiting Cape Coast as part of tourism expedition. T.I., Ludacris , Barack Obama and Michelle Obama have all visited Cape Coast. Danny Glover, Nancy Pelosi, Melania Trump , was here with his full squad, Joseph HILL – Culture and many others have all being to Cape Coast as tourists.

These dignitaries and celebrities visiting Cape Coast can’t land directly in Cape Coast/Central Region without the hustle of going through Accra, and joining the hectic traffic from Airport to Cape Coast.

This does not only make tourism convenient. Although it provides an opportunity for transport operators in Cape Coast and Central Region to maximize their profits, It shouldn’t always be landing in Accra and hiring a car from Accra to Cape Coast. With this kind of trend, Cape Coast and Central Region gets less from its enormous contribution to the nation’s tourism sector.

Getting an airport will provide an opportunity for foreign direct investment. Aside the tourism and investment opportunities, it will serve as a faster and safer way for students, medical practitioners, lectures and teachers to travel across the whole country and outside the country. Don’t only use Accra to Cape Coast route as measure to the need for an airport. People travel from all over the world to Cape Coast.

Let’s put politics aside and fight for the interest of our beloved Region. There should be numerous options traveling to Cape Coast and Central Region apart from the using highway.

In my humble opinion, it’s time for Cape Coast to get an airport to boost tourism activities.
