You Wouldn’t Engage In PR If You Believe You Have Done Well – Kwabena Agyapong Tells Gov’t

Kwabena Agyapong set for big govt appointment as NPP NEC clears him

Former General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has criticized the Akufo-Addo led administration for placing too much emphasis on Public Relations (PR) instead of focusing on the real challenges confronting the country.

He says any government that believes it has done so well for the people will not waste scarce resources projecting its works as the beneficiaries themselves will speak the same if they feel it.

“We’ve got things upside down in this country. Talk is cheap, what is important is that when you are doing something good you don’t need to speak too much about it. When people feel the impact of it, you don’t need to tell them,” he said.

“Yes it is good to explain your policies but we are overemphasizing PR in this country and people have created enterprise out of it. That is not what we require as a government, as a party and as a people,” he said.

Mr Agyapong made these comments in an interview with Ghana Television last Thursday, September 22, 2022.

He also spoke against the growing incidence of conflict of interest in public institutions, adding it is sickening that Directors in various Institutions form companies to offer contracts to themselves.
