“I Will Be Surprised If Afriyie Barnieh Does Not Make Otto Addo’s Squad” – Illiasu

Ex-Ghana international, Shilla Illiasu says he would be surprised if a local player is not included in the squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

Illiasu played for the Black Stars at Ghana’s debut World Cup in Germany 2006 while playing for Asante Kotoko.

Hearts of Oak forward, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh is the only local player invited by Coach Otto Addo and Illiasu says he must be included in the squad.

“I would be surprised because, we have to have a local player.

“At least one or two have to go because if we didn’t have any local player to go the World Cup, we will lose.

“I will advise that we put local players at least two or three players must be included.” Shilla Illiasu told Radio Gold Talk Sport.

Ghana will play record World Cup holders, Brazil on Friday, September 23 before taking on Nicaragua four days later in a pre-World Cup preparations.

The Black Stars will wrap up preparations against Switzerland on November 17 before flying to Qatar for the World Cup where they are paired in group H with old foes, Uruguay, Portugal and South Korea.
