Emerged champions of the Ghana Premier League last season to be eligible for the CAF Champions League, Asante Kotoko have a kick start their campaign with a positive result as guests in the first leg of the preliminary round.
Lock horns with Burkinabe side RC de Kadiogo today in a neutral location in Benin which tends to be their first competitive game this season, the Porcupine Warriors were able to come out in flying colours – in an encounter they were less favourite given their match fitness to that of their opponent.
And a poor showdown in club friendlies, where they lost thrice and drew once- but it did not have a turn on them as they won on a scoreline (0-1) courtesy of Isaac Oppong’s injury-time brilliant finish.
Their first game of the season without the availability of their top scorer Frank Etouga Mbella, – their performance were highly praised -especially to coach Seydou Zerbo who replaced Prosper Ogum Nartey this term.
A goal advantage ahead of the second leg fixture, Asante Kotoko SC will host RC de Kadiogo on the 18th of this month in Ghana.
