From Presidential Jets To Galamsey Queen: Okudzeto Ablakwa Drops ‘Secrets’ About Aisha Huang

The issue of galamsey has emerged again as one of the most talked about topics in the country. The Akufo-Addo government has waged a number of raids to curb the illegality but so far nothing new has come from these measures. After assuming office, President Akufo-Addo mentioned that he was ready to put his presidency on the line to stop galamsey. Years on and many feel these were just mere words.

The resurfacing of Aisha Huang, a Chinese national in the country has revealed how porous the security of the country is. The National Identification Authority and Immigration Service have mentioned that they cannot be blamed for the reemergence of Aisha Huang. Well, Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee has made some startling revelations about the galamsey queen, Aisha Huang. Okudzeto is the leading critic of the use of expensive jets by Akufo-Addo.

According to Okudzeto in his latest expose on Aisha Huang, there is no information to support the claim that Aisha was escorted out of the country when she was deported as it should have been done. The North Tongu MP also adds that even without an escort, Aisha was not handed over to the Chinese authorities and even interestingly is the fact that the Chinese authorities were only informed of Aisha’s arrival two clear days after she had arrived

More serious is Okudzeto’s claim that the Chinese authorities never appealed to Ghana to release Aisha. This has been the claim then by Osarfo Maafo, senior minister then. The Minister had insisted that the deal of not prosecuting Aisha was for diplomatic reasons. Okudzeto mentions that there was no appeal from the Chinese. Okudzeto finally calls for a full scale investigation to unravel the mystery behind Aisha especially what led to her deportation and how she resurfaced.

It will be interesting to see whether an investigation will be considered. Parliament is still on break and all eyes will be on the Minority to see if they will file an urgent question or call on Bagbin to start an investigation regarding that. Aisha Huang is set to reappear in court this week. Many want her to be punished but there is pessimism as to whether she will be jailed.
