Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has eulogised the late Queen Elizabeth II, Monarch of the United Kingdom.
Queen Elizabeth II was confirmed dead at age 96, on Thursday, August 8, 2020 at her Scottish Estate, Balmoral, in the presence of her immediate family.
In a post on his Twitter page, Mr Mahama says the Queen carried her royal duties with grace and dignity.
“Sad to hear the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. She carried her royal duties with grace, poise & dignity. An icon of pride not only to the British people but the Commonwealth.
“Our hearts go out to King Charles III and the Royal Family. May God grant her peaceful repose”, he tweeted.
During her reign the Queen met with many world leaders from across the globe five Ghanaian former presidents.
Former President Mahama is the last Ghana President to meet and shake hands with the Queen after she invited him to her Buckingham Palace in 2014.
The then President John Dramani Mahama was in the of his wife Lordina Mahama. John Dramani Mahama presented her with a copy of his book, ”My first Coup d’etat”.
