Expect To Have Full Access To Your SIM Cards From Tomorrow; Sam George Assures Public

The member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram constituency, Honorable Sam Nartey George appears not to be giving up the “fight” against the blocking of SIM cards by the NCA anytime soon as he has earlier indicated his intention to resort to the law court for redress.

The Lawmaker has served notice that they should expect to have full access to their SIM cards starting from tomorrow.

This comes barely a week after the Ministry of Communications, through the NCA started rolling out punitive measures against persons who have so far failed to re-register their SIM cards with their Ghana cards.

As part of the digitization agenda and measures to curb fraudulent activities and have a clean database in the telecommunications sector, the government in consultation with the relevant stakeholders has set out to ensure that all customers use their Ghana cards to re-register their SIM cards and failure to do so would result in some restrictions on the SIM card.

The Ningo-Prampram lawmaker says he is not against the re-registration of SIM cards but out rightly disagrees with attempts to block or restrict SIM cards of customers for no fault of theirs.

In a write-up on his Facebook wall, he reiterated his disagreement with the Communications Ministry and the NCA and further assured the public that steps are being taken by the NCA to grant full access to customers who have had their SIM cards deactivated.

Meanwhile, the National Communications Authority has been sued over blocked SIM cards and we await to witness how the issue is going to unfold.
