A Plus Drags Ursula Owusu To Court For Blocking SIM Cards – Reactions

Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as A Plus has drag the Minister of Communication, Ursula Owusu to the Supreme Court for giving directive to block SIM cards.

In a statement released by A Plus on Friday, 9th September 2022, he wrote;

“The same government that cannot provide Ghana cards to Ghanaians for SIM card registration must not be allowed to execute a directive by the communications minister that unregistered SIM cards will be blocked by 30th September.

We are in the Supreme Court to seek a declaration that the action of blocking SIM cards by Dansoman Tatiana Ali” her agents and all stakeholders is unfair, capricious, abuse of power, and a breach of the fundamental human rights of ordinary Ghanaians.”

An excerpt from the writ reads;

“A declaration that on a true and proper interpretation of Articles 2, 23 and 296 of the 1992 constitution of the Republic of Ghana, the directive by the Minister for Communication, Mrs. Ursula Owusu – Ekuful on Sunday, July 31, 2022. That the 1st Defendant will ensure that all sim cards that are not re-registered by 30th September, 2022 will be blocked while the National Identification Authority has not been able to issue the Ghana card which is the only card to be used for the said re-registration exercise.”

The writ says it is arbitrary, capricious, amounts to an abuse of discretion. He finds it unconstitutional, null, void and of no legal effect to Ghanaians”

Reactions

“A waste of time. The Supreme Court will delay the hearing of the case and will eventually rule that the blocking of the Sim cards by Ursula Owusu is legitimate. The SC Justices are all NPP partisan judges who see nothing wrong with whatever the government does.” A user advised A Plus.

Kelvin Taylor, A US based journalist wrote;

“Anin Yeboah’s Supreme Court ? Anin Yeboah still has 5 million dollars bribery allegations hanging around his neck.

Ah Kwame, I can tell you your case will be thrown Out without a fair hearing.”
