22/23 UEFA Europa League Team of the Week After First Round of Group Stage Fixtures

The first round of the UEFA Europa League group fixtures concluded on Thursday – and the quest for the Team of the Week based on players’ performances, here is it according to the highest-scored statistics.

Goalkeeper

Alex Remiro (Sociedad)

Very confident in the post against Manchester United – guided it against Brais Mendez’s lone goal with 3 saves, the 27-year-old emerged as the most outstanding goalkeeper this week.

Defenders

Gustavo Henrique (Fenerbahce)

Though involved less in defence, the Brazilian attacking threat played a huge role in their triumph win against Dynamo Kyiv – a goal and that of Michy Batshuayi’s were enough to record their first win in the campaign.

Christian Burgess (Saint-Gilloise)

Erik Sviatchenko (Midtjylland)

Excellent clearance off the line to prevent further goals, the captain of the side was highly praised for such awesome displays at the back-line.

Midfielders

Kamaldeen Sulemana (Rennais)

Player of the match against AEK Larnaca, the Ghanaian winger’s performance says it all – 2 assists and 4 key passes were such brilliant stats from the 20-year-old, enough to earn him a feature in the team of the week.

Matias Vecino and Luis Alberto (Lazio)

Great delivery in midfield, the duo were simply inseparable and visionary.

Their control and eye for goals got the job done easily at the expense of Feyenoord -3 goals and 2 assists between them were just magical.

Ludovic Blas (Nantes)

Covered the most distance along with two crucial assists to help his side defeat Olympiakos from home, the Frenchman’s performance was a memorial that earn him the man of the match honour.

Forwards

Marquinhos (Arsenal)

His first debut for the “Gunners” since arriving two months ago, the 19-year-old winger indeed is a huge prospect.

Inspired his side from away with a goal and an assist as it did help cruise over FC Zurich.

Tokmac Nguen (Ferencvarosi)

Nguen may not be well known but after his encounter with Trabzonspor – his craft is now recognised, 3 goals contribution [a brace and an assist] and the best player, he earned a spot in this week’s team.

Willian Jose (Betis)

With two shots on target -Jose made sure it accounted for against Finnis-based side HJK from away as they won on a 2-0 scoreline.
