‘Sack’ These 6 Appointees And ‘Resign’ Yourself Because Of Aisha Huang – CSO Boss Boldly Tells Nana

Four years ago, Aisha Huang, a Chinese national dominated headlines when she was arrested for galamsey. Many thought she will be jailed but in the end she was deported back to her home country. Many though this had ended the Aisha saga until she came into the news again this week. She has been arrested again for being involved in galamsey.

Many have lambasted the Akufo-Addo government for adopting a lackadaisical approach in fighting galamsey. Activists claim that Aisha might have never been deported but rather allowed to go into hiding and later made to resurface. Well, Mensah Thompson, the Executive Director at Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability, ASEPA has reacted to the Aisha Huang saga.

While speaking on Metro TV’s Good Afternoon Ghana today, Wednesday, September 7, 2022, the vocal CSO boss called on President Akufo-Addo to admit he has failed in the fight against galamsey and sack certain minister and appointees who looked on for Aisha to resurface and pollute Ghana’s waters. He noted that after these appointees are sacked, the President also needs to resign and leave office.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs should be held accountable for Aisha Huang. Apart from that, the Minister of Interior should have been fired alongside the National Security Minister. The boss of the National Identification Authority should have also resigned. The Minister for Lands and Natural should have been fired from his job. The Controller of the Ghana Immigration Service should have also lost his job. The president should also resign in respect this this embarrassing spectacle.” Mensah Thompson explained.

According to Mensah Thompson, it is right that the Attorney General has taken up the case but doubted if he can pursue and finish the course considering the powers above him. It will be interesting to see how the case proceeds. Many Ghanaians say that Aisha may elude the laws of the country again because she is connected to people in high offices. Aisha Huang will reappear in court on September 14. Interesting times ahead. Do you agree with Mensah Thompson on those to be sacked or he is merely spreading propaganda?
