Ghana’s Ambassador to Nigeria Rashid Bawa has confirmed that tomorrow’s Chan qualifier between Nigeria and Ghana taking place in Abuja will be played behind closed doors. He explains arrangements have been put in place for Ghana’s contingent to avert what happened in the World Cup qualifier between Black Stars of Ghana and Super Green Eagles of Nigeria.
“We have done arrangement for massive security for the Ghana contingents coming to Nigeria for the chan qualifiers. Nigerians are very angry to qualify because Ghana eliminated their senior national team to the Qatar fifa world cup 2022. So they want to do everything possible to qualify to Chan 2023 but I believe the black galaxies will surely qualify. They will give us only vip tickets the match will be play behind closed doors so they will only give us vip tickets.” Said Rashid Bawa on Original FM.
When Black Stars engaged Super Green Eagles at the same facility in Abuja, Nigerian fans hurled missiles on to the pitch after the game ended a goal apiece.
In tomorrow’s Chan qualifier, Black Galaxies aim to beat their counterparts from Nigeria and make it to the tournament next year. Measures have been put in place to avoid a repeat of the previous incident.
