Ghana’s Democracy Has Been Reduced To Kleptocracy – Raymond Ablorh

Raymond Ablorh, a journalist and a former Manager at Airtel Ghana has asserted that Ghana’s democracy has been reduced to Kleptocracy.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, 31st August 2022, he wrote that our democracy has turned into kleptocracy brewed with electoralism in a patronage system.

“When democracy is reduced to elections, only politicians, judges, religious and traditional leaders and corrupt private business owners who allow their businesses to be used as conduits for plundering benefit against the collective good of the nation.” Raymond remarked.

According to Raymond, this is exactly what we’re seeing in Ghana. The politicians, the judges, the clergy and traditional leaders with their cronies in private sector are greedily wasting the future of such a beautiful nation.

They are allegedly plundering, siphoning and sharing the national resources while millions of citizens they call fellow Ghanaians; countrymen suffer dehumanizing poverty and hardships worse than what some refugees endure in war zones. He lamented.

Raymond added that they build pearls of houses in slums and consciencely drive vehicles they cheaply took from the people on bad roads filled with stench while their fellow citizens struggle in tattered clothes in acidic poverty in their villages and communities.

And, these are the great and wealthy Kings, chiefs, clergymen, politicians, judges, lawyers, etc of our generation. Is this what our ancestors and forefathers fought for independence for? He added.

“Is this what the Danquahs and Nkrumahs fought and killed themselves for? Is this what Kotoka, Afrifa and General Ankrah organised the 1966 coup for?

Is that what Acheampong and others were killed for? Is this what we promulgated the 4th Republican Constitution for? ” He quizzed.
