Oyerepa FM To Resume Operations After Impasse With Kumasi Council Is Resolved

Following a formal apology by the management of Oyerepa Fm to the Kumasi Traditional Council, calm has been restored and the media house and the chiefs have ironed out other differences.

The whole impasse stemmed from the rantings of a popular politician in the Ashanti Region who appeared as a pundit on the radio station political talk show. The founder and leader of the United Progressive Party didn’t mince words when he called out Manhyia, the highest seat of the Kingdom for being a collaborator in illegal mining.

According to him, the menace is destroying water bodies and forests and it is being carried out within every town in the Kingdom. He dared the chiefs to deny if these activities are perpetrated without their consent.

His message didn’t go down well with the chiefs hence the subsequent ban from operating. Manhyia is big and the news around them is big as well and travels with speed.

Fast forward, the impasse has been resolved amicably and the Radio station can go ahead with its daily transmission.
