The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress has indirectly confirmed the fears of Ghanaians that the National Democratic Congress only want to come to power again just to enrich themselves. Asiedu Nketsia explained that the current economic crisis is affecting all Ghanaians but it is affecting the members of the National Democratic Congress the most as compared to the New Patriotic Party. He buttered his claim by explaining that the current administration is looting from the public purse just to enrich themselves.
“During this time for economic crisis and failure, the impact is very serious and on everyone. Infact the current situation we are facing is impacting the NDC Members the most. This impact is more than that for the NPP since they have looted and they are still looting money to work for themselves.”, he explained.
It is very true that the National Democratic Congress have been in opposition for some eight years. Speaking about opposition, we must not forget that a huge sum of money was spent on all two general elections but to no avail. And the plan or motive behind these huge spending during such campaign period is that they can reclaim their monies and get a twofold of the money they invested. Some people or politicians see the election and campaign period as an investment period with very high risk to returns ratio.
Thus, there is a fear that when the NDC come to power, they will do everything in their power to retrieve all the money they have spent and get some additional profit. Thus, the statement by Asiedu Nketsia has placed Ghanaians in a very tough dilemma; either to maintain the New Patriotic Party so that they will still loot or they will bring the NDC so that they will reclaim their investment money.
