I don’t think they have a basis to deny, they must answer some critical questions – Azeem

According to former Executive Director of the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), Mr. Vitus Azeem, Labianca will still have to answer some crucial questions in order to make their responses acceptable, even though they have the right to respond and defend themselves in response to the corruption report by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

Mr. Azeem asserted the management of the business must explain why it waited until the OSP demanded payment before making the payment. It is only natural to defend yourself when you are accused of doing anything wrong, so why did they wait until the Special Prosecutor gave them the go-ahead to pay the fine before they did?

“Defending oneself is natural for them, but how do they react to the SP’s orders? On Wednesday, August 24, in response to Labianca’s statement regarding the OPS report, he said, “I do not think they have a basis to deny.

The ‘s management expressed its sadness at learning of the recent publication of the supposed OSP study regarding the ‘s operations. It also voiced concerns about how the report will be discussed in the media going forward without the receiving a formal letter from the OSP.”

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has not formally written to the about its findings as required by due process and fair “trial” rules, but according to a statement released on Tuesday, August 23, “we believe that the report findings are at variance with our recollection of events and submissions made to the office.”
