Bawumiah had the legacy of the president to his advantage. Being a running mate positions him directly in this advantage, giving him the privilege to use the progress of the country under Nana Addo to his advantage.
One of the major issues that would have been a hurdle in his campaign even before Nana Addo made this comment is the failures in the earlier proposed economics and antics to save the country.
It is rather unfortunate that the country is in one of its worse states and the Vice President has the pressure of the country on his shoulders. Nana Addo has openly declared that times are hard in this country. This would have been one of those statements spoken and complimented with the Covid-19 saga to make it look okay.
Well, the thriving economies of other African countries after the Covid gives them no room for this anymore. The open admission to economic hardships is an official confirmation of incompetence and failure of this economy. And this could go a long way to haunt and arrest the progress of Bawumiah in the ongoing campaign for flag bearer.
