We Must Make Them Feel Confronted- Oliver Barker Sends A Bold Message To Ghanaians About Leaders

The lead convener of the Fix The Country Movement, Oliver Barker Vorwamor, has once again sent another bold message to Ghanaians. This message sought to activate the activism spirit in Ghanaians once again. Oliver Barker strongly believed that the leaders of this country need to feel that they are confronted by the masses. He specifically described the mass as those who understand the ethical power of standing up to power.

It is true that the majority of Ghanaians have a higher understanding of what democracy and activism detail. But per Oliver’s writer up, Ghanaians must have a comprehension of the ethical power of standing up to power. So far, many appointees in this government, plus the President himself, have flouted the laws of the nation. Yet, all Ghanaians can do is talk behind the scenes rather than stand up to power.

Oliver Barker gave two scenarios to explain his assertion. The first scenario was how Boris Johnson, United Kingdom’s former Prime Minister, was forced to resign for organizing a party, in other words, flouting the COVID laws. Nana Addo and other party appointees on the other hand went to funerals populated by Ghanaians during COVID periods despite the fact that he had signed a law that called for social distancing. In our case, Nana Addo was not made to face any law or was not confronted. He later asked Ghanaians to name the country that will be most oppressed in these two scenarios.

“For those who wield power to be guarded, they must feel confronted by a mass of people who understand the ethical responsibility of standing up to power. Put it this way, imagine two countries; in one, Boris can lose his job over a COVID party but Nutsukpui can attend the biggest COVID funerals, in breach of his own laws in other countries; in which of these countries will it be easier to oppress”
