An outburst of youth activism is unusual for Ghana and hasn’t been witnessed in recent times. Although Ghana is regularly praised for its stable democracy—particularly because of its largely free media and relatively peaceful elections and transfers of power—citizens hardly demonstrate, preferring instead to voice their frustrations among themselves or over the airwaves and social media or through every little means at their disposal.
Promising Ghanaian music starlet, Zarious seize an opportunity to channel his grievance to the leadership of every sector in the country especially the Upper East Region where he hails from through music which almost everyone in the society listens to.
In this new song released by the male vocalist, he hammered on the fact that politicians practice their long-standing tradition which is dishonesty by lying to innocent citizens to root and vote for them and abandon them after the election.
In a one-on-one interview between www.OneMuzikGh.Com and Zarious, he indicated that the song captioned “Somma” is largely influenced by the promises always made by politicians during campaign seasons and their failure to realize those promises after the election.
“I came to Bolga when I was to stay and school when I was 10 years and from then till now 2022 things have remained the same, just as it was, it’s still same so I am talking to the people in front, the power controllers, leaders of every sector”
“You understand, leaders in the school, at workplaces, landlords I mean anyone who is in the position to change something”
“That’s the whole thing I thought of before writing the song.”
“I kept it in my dilate beachse I wanted my people to understand what am saying and stand up. my village (Tongo) is an example of what am saying so I wanted them to Hear Me”
He detailed that “Development ( proper roads, adequate supply of electricity to other villages, good drinking water, and many other issues are what I spoke about in the song”.
A benefitting video has been shot to synchronize the message in the song and also to give a visual view of what the song embodies. It will be released on Tuesday, August 30 on his official YouTube channel.
