I Am Not A Jounalist:Nobody Should Ever Refer To Me As Such;Okatakyie Afrifa Issues Strong Warning

Journalism is a noble profession, popularly referred to as “the fourth estate of the realm.” It is the source of information and their regular updates on politics, business, entertainment, and economic issues are what keep the masses informed. They speak for the voiceless masses and It’s not about whether the party in power or opposition approves of it.

However, it seems the functions of this profession have taken a nosedive and Professionalism is far different from what many journalists are currently doing. Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, a broadcast journalist with TV XYZ has issued a stern warning that henceforth nobody should refer to him as a journalist.

According to the gentleman, most Journalists in Ghana are simply playing safe in criticizing politicians and they have lost their values and principles. Credibility is missing from many of their argument and they are currently doing the bidding of their paymasters.

Speaking on TV XYZ this morning, the host of “ABRANAA SO,” opined that due to these reasons nobody should ever call him a journalist. Certain important media men were mentioned by the tv host whom he described as dangerous elements to the growth of the country.

Okatakyie concluded that “Nobody should call me a journalist. If journalism is what some people are doing, by taking money from politicians to defend what is indefensible then nobody should refer to me as a journalist. I am an activist.”
