Manchester United and Real Madrid have reached an agreement over the sale of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro. The defensive midfielder leaves Real Madrid after an illustrious career at the Spanish powerhouse. Behind his transfer is a previous record that could repeat itself for both Real Madrid and head coach Carlo Ancelotti. Could the transfer of Casemiro lead to a bad decision on the part of reigning UEFA Champions League holders?
The record goes as; In 2014 Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League, Xabi Alonso stays during the preseason but then left late in the window. Real Madrid fail to win any major trophy, Carlo Ancelotti gets sacked.
In 2022, which is eight years later, Real Madrid wins the UEFA Champions League and Casemiro stays during the preseason. Casemiro is joining Manchester United.
Manchester United are bent on mending the loopholes under new manager Erik Ten Hag. The team’s midfield and defense have come under immense scrutiny over the years, which has not seen any massive improvement under the new manager.
They have acquired the services of Casemiro to stabilize the midfield especially the holding role position, to prevent balls from making their way into the net.
Casemiro may not play against Liverpool on Monday due to paperwork.
