Help Fix Our Bad Roads To Save Our Women On Labor From Death-Residents Plead.

he residents of Ntabano, Darkowaakrom, Nyamesem, Bronsankro and Akuapemkrom, towns within the Atwima Nwabiagya South District of the Ashanti Region are appealing to the government to fix their damaged bridge and roads that links to the various communities to ensure smooth business activities in the District.

According to them due to the bad nature of the roads they are unable to transport their farm produce to the market centres a situation they said have been forcing them to pay outrageous fares for transport.

Speaking to the correspondent, the Assemblyman for the area Hon Yusif Yahaya said the situation calls for urgent attention since large quantities of farm produce that were harvest from the area go waste.

Hon Yusif Yahaya indicated that he and his Unit Committee members have made several appeals to the relevant quarters for attention but to no avail.

Such appeals were made to the previous and current governments starting from the former President John Agyekum Kufuor to the current administration of President Nana Addo but no action has been taken, and this suggest that the aforementioned communities are not part of the country.

One can also image on how accidents can happened here by considering the bad nature of the road networks in our area, Yussif hinted.

In his contribution, the Unit Committee chairman Alidu Seidu said, the condition of the health service in the area is also another one of the major challenges confronting the people.

Alidu reiterated that due to the poor nature of the roads, the residents find it difficult to transfer women who are in critical labour from the communities to the nearest hospitals for attention.

We mostly use motorbikes to transfer pregnant women and nurses on one motorbike to hospitals and these show clearly that the lives of women on labour in the are are in danger, Alidu told the correspondent.

He said the Municipal Assembly and the Member of Parliament have been giving assurances to fix their death trap bridge and roads in a short period of time, but the promises tend to have become a matters of extensions of times from months to years.

To ensure saving pregnant women from death and us to work hard in our farms to produce food to feed the country hence our appeal to the government to come to our aid by a way of fixing our roads for us, Alidu indicated.
