Vice President Bawumia Frees John Mahama And Makes A Great U-Turn

The Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia; also known as the ‘Sounding Brass’, has finally freed former President John Mahama, as he make a big U-turn on the current causes of the Ghanaian economic woes.

The Republic of Ghana, under the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, has ran into many problems breaks in the economy; leading to high cost of petroleum prices, high cost of goods and services, high cost of living, and many more.

Vice President Dr. Bawumia had earlier blamed all these current economic challenges on “the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, led by Former President John Dramani Mahama.

He said other factors like, the excess capacity payments and the banking sector crisis, were inherited from the previous administration.

According to him, “If you ask a carpenter to roof your house, and suddenly the roof collapses without any wind or rainfall, will you not blame the carpenter who did the roofing? But if a carpenter roofs your house and the roof collapses because of a tornado, and a storm which has also blown away the roofs, windows and walls of many houses, will you blame the carpenter”?

In his current claim, Vice President Bawumia has shifted the blame from the former president to Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war.

speaking on Wednesday explained, Dr. Bawumia said, “during those deadly times (of the covid pandemic), government was more focused on saving lives than the country’s fiscal discipline. This came at a very expensive cost to the nation”.

“We had the worst economic depression since the 1930s, in the global economy. Of course from the President’s point of view at the time of Covid-19, the emphasis was on saving lives and not on fiscal discipline”, he added.

Dr. Bawumia stressed that, “So yes, we focused on saving lives at great fiscal cost”.
