A top member of the opposition NDC has found himself at the wrong side of the party’s constitution. Mr. Antwi Boasiako Sekyere must be sweating after he attended the 10th anniversary celebration of the late President Mills.
The Functional Executive Council (FEC) of the party has invited the the former Eastern Regional minister to explain why he should not be sanctioned for flouting the constitution of the party.
According to the invitation letter which was intercepted by CitizenOne, Mr. Sekyere did not just attend the unsanctioned program, he also laid a wreath on behalf of the party without the prior approval.
“FEC was also informed that at the said event, you laid a wreath on behalf of the party without its knowledge and authorization.
FEC wishes to draw your attention to a press release issued by the party dated 23rd July, 2022 which was widely publicized and clearly stipulated that the event was not sanctioned by the party and members should not participate in it.
Your decision to participate in the event and to lay a wreath on behalf of the party clearly contravened FEC’s directive and FEC needs an explanation for your action,” the statement said in parts.
It will be recalled that government in collaboration with Anyidoho organised an anniversary celebration in honour of the late President Mills. This was after the two bodies had renovated the Asomdwee Park without the knowledge of the family of Atta Mills and NDC.
The NDC and the family decided to hold a separate event to honour their hero while directing all party members to boycott the government sponsored one. But pictures which were widely published online later captured some NDC members believed to be in good standing at the event. These include E. T. Mensah, Mr. Owusu Sekyere and Rojo Mettle Nunoo. apart from E. T. who is also serving a suspension, others were considered NDC members. Our intel has it that Rojo has also been served similar invite.
Meanwhile, the legislator for North Tongu Hon. Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa has stated that the statue which was launched by Nana Addo and Anyidoho at Asomdwee Park is not that of Professor Mills. He said apart from the non resemblance, the statue did not bear the name of the late president.
Strange enough, Anyidoho and Nana had their names boldy written on the statue. This according to Chairman of NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo means the statue is one of the two.
