Ga West Assembly donates to traditional authorities in Homowo.

As part of the Homowo Festival celebrations this year, the Ga West Municipal Assembly has organized a donation drive.

The donation took place on the Assembly grounds on Friday, August 12, ahead of the Homowo celebrations.

The assembly, through its Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Clement Nii Lamptey Wilkinson, donated 100 bags of maize to the municipality’s Ga Traditional Authorities.

The MCE also presented the Chiefs and Queen Mothers Association with 100 gallons of palm oil and an undisclosed sum of money to commemorate this year’s Homowo.

Mr. Wilkinson told the media during the donation that this is the fifth time the assembly has supported the Homowo Festival under his leadership.

“A new year has arrived, and our elderly celebrate Homowo around this time.” As the Homowo festivities begin, it is critical that the assembly interact with the elders. So the assembly’s contribution is limited to providing these bags of maize and oil, which are essential for the celebration. “

“By doing so, we are also soliciting their prayers for the assembly’s growth and development as they pray to the ancestors.”

Nii Okuley Apesonigyi (III), Vice President of the Ga West Chiefs and Queen Mothers Association, who received the items on behalf of the , expressed gratitude to the MCE for the donation.

He wished everyone a happy holiday and urged peace and unity in Ga West.

“In Ga West, we have taken precautions, spoken with our chiefs and queens, and we are confident that it will be peaceful.” “We talked to some of those who had challenges earlier and resolved some of the issues…with the support of the security services, we are confident that everything will be peaceful this year…”, the Vice President assured.

Some association chiefs and municipal assembly representatives were also present.

Meanwhile, Mr. Clement Nii Lamptey Wilkinson took advantage of the occasion to warn the youth not to misbehave during the festivities and to keep the peace.

“We have allowed everyone to celebrate the festival, and all we ask is that everyone behave properly.” If you misbehave, you will detract from the festival’s beauty. “I will personally go around with the cops to ensure peace, safety, and compliance,” he said.
