There is an adage, great leaders groom future leaders. There is always the need for the older persons to train the youth to enhance succession planning.

Who are the youth? In most jurisdictions, the youth are seen as persons not more than thirty five years old.

Johnny Hughes made some interesting but witty remarks to mark the International Youth Day.

During his editorial on Friday,12th August 2022, the TV3 broadcast Journalist recounted what happened between a NABCO Trainee and female journalist Berla Mundi.

The TV presenter, Johnny Hughes explained that the youth of the country must not be timid but must boldly develop themselves and ask questions.

He also mentioned that the country belongs to the future leaders and there was the need to groom the young ones.

Johnny Hughes revealed how some graduates with Masters degree have no work opportunities to develop their careers. He explained how worried he is to see all the top government appointees in their sixties.

Interestingly, Johnny Hughes mentioned that some NABCO Trainees walked into the TV3 studios few moments ago. According to Johnny, one lady who was quite older than Berla Mundi was always calling Berla Mundi ‘Maa’.

He realised that the lady was denied the exposures and opportunities despite her education, so she had no choice than to lower herself to that level. In his editorial,Johnny asked , Is Berla Mundi your mother? Johnny Hughes explained that he respects everyone and does not expect the youth to disrespect anyone. He was not impressed with how some youth do not have the right confidence in themselves.

Johnny Hughes mentioned the fact that the youth should not be afraid to enter the offices of their district chief executives and various government office holders.

Johnny Hughes was alarmed at how the youth in the country were educated but yet unemployed. He encouraged government to create the right environment to grow the career of graduates for the betterment of the country.
