Angry Residents Call For The Distoolment Of Chief For His Inability To Render Accounts.

The residents, queen mother and some elders of Abuokrom a town within the Jaman South Municipality of the Bono Region have allegedly threatened to remove their chief, Nana Seidu Gyabaah from his stool.

A demonstration is alleged to have been organized as a sign of protest to back their call on the chief to vacate the stool.

On Monday August 9 2022, information gathered had it that Nana Seidu allegedly managed to sneak out from the town to seek cover following the suspicion that the angry demonstrators were having something up in their sleeves against him.

According to the residents, they can no longer treat the chief as their leader.

They assigned their alleged reasons to the fact that Nana Seidu disregards customs and traditions that bind the communinity, whilst he sidelines the elders and youth on decision making for the town’s development.

The queen mother of the town Nana Abenaa Konamah I, has confirmed the town’s decision to distool the chief.

Speaking at a Kumasi based Silver FM’s morning show hosted by Nana Kwabena Ampratwum which was monitored by the correspondent in Kumasi on Thursday August 11, 2022,

the queenmother levelled several charges against the chief.

With a copy of charge sheet at the studio, the queen mother alleged that Nana Seidu Gyabaa sells stool lands without the notice of the leaders of the community, members of the royal family and also do not render accounts to the people.

He uses the money for his own interest without thinking about the development of the town, she alleged.

Adding that she been the queen mother of the town had in several occasions written petition letters to the relevant bodies to ensure that the chief would cooperate with us towards the developmental agenda of the town but to no avail.

It has now become clear to us that the chief is not ready to render accounts for his stewardship, hence for these reasons and many more, we believe that we have enough evidence to use lawful traditional customs to remove him from the stool, the queenmother hinted.
