Pictorial Evidence Of Essipong Stadium In Western Region In A Deplorable Condition

Essipong stadium located in the Western Region of Ghana has come up in the news because of its deplorable conditions. Viral pictures of the facility that was part of venues for the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, reveal the extent to which the facility has been left without proper care and maintenance.

A picture of the stadium shows how the roofing has lost its shades as a result of worn out over the years. The top part has almost the steel that was installed to provide shade for the facility.

Another picture shows the inner part of the facility. Major items that were installed have all been dispersed, as some are in a state of depletion.

Seats have been completely been taken away by the deplorable conditions of the facility.

The Government of Ghana assured that it will spend over US$3 million to complete the first phase of the renovation of the project, following viral reports of the bad state of Essipong Sports Stadium.

In 2020, the Ministry of Youth and Sports disclosed that a contract has been awarded for the renovation of the Essipong Stadium.

The Essipong Stadium has been in a deplorable state since it has not undergone any renovations since its completion for the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.
