President Akuffo-Addo’s refusal to reshuffle his appointees will affect chances of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 election.
This is according to Mehdi Jibril, a member of the National Communication Team for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Earlier this week, President Akuffo-Addo dismissed calls for him to sack some of his Ministers of State.
The President while speaking in an interview in the North Star Radio in Tamale said that he is satisfied with the performance of his appointees.
He opines that the calls on him to reshuffle his appointees are either coming from jobless people or members of the NDC who just want to destabilize his administration.
“The issue of reshuffling or performance of my ministers is a daily pre-occupation, I’m required on a daily basis to ask myself whether a particular minister is up to the mark.
“I am the final authority and if they are not up to the mark, I’m required to act. So if they are up to expectations then I don’t have any reason to heed to the calls for reshuffling,” President Akuffo-Addo said.
He added that “the NDC wants to destabilize your government, there are people who are also looking for jobs,” he said.
Reacting this on Happy FM in Accra, Mehdi Jibril, who is the immediate past Deputy National Organizer of the NDC, says “I’m sure this statement has reduced the votes of the NPP by 30 percent”.
The NDC Communicator believes President Akuffo-Addo did not handle the issue of the reshuffle better and that could haunt the NPP in the coming elections.
