Black Stars Defender Salisu Mohammed Faces Demotion After Southampton Coach Speaks On Own Goal

Southampton FC coach Ralph Hasenhuttl has shared some thoughts on Mohammed Salisu’s own goal that was scored this weekend. He sees the goal to be avoidable other goals that were concede in their match against Tottenham Hotspur.

 “This is individual quality. Like in the first goal where Kyle (Walker-Peters) is not there to defend a cross and we have situations like this (own goal). Normally we cannot concede a goal here. It’s easy to clear with the right foot. This is simply not good enough at this level.”

Salisu Mohammed’s own goal came in the 61st minutes when Southampton were trailing. The game ended 4:1 for the home side Tottenham Hotspur.

Salisu Mohammed and his club have other matches to make amends as the season is just few days old.

Salisu Mohammed has announced an intention to play for Black Stars of Ghana. He is expected to bring his experience to bear for his national team.

Coach Otto Addo is anticipated to hand a maiden call up to Salisu Mohammed as soon as possible, with World Cup invitation looking possible. Salisu Mohammed could team up with Daniel Amartey and Alexander Djiku for a solid back three or back four depending on what the coach chooses.
